"Greenhouse, Fish Tanks, Poultry Center” by Kool Music is a very extremely special 2 hour 49 minute electronic ambient recording released digitally in 2012. This album really lingered in my mind for the last decade. When I read that there was a new Kool Music album (“Dagobah” out now on Feeding Tube), I impulsively reached out to the man behind the moniker, Jasper Baydala, who also works as a visual artist and lives in Glasgow, and asked if I could commission a cassette version to file in my collection. (As a side note Jasper also designed the amazing Paula album “Relaxed Fit” for my short lived side project label Ethereal Sequence in 2013. If you have not heard the three Ethereal Sequence LPs you are missing out.)
We chatted over email and decided to do a short, handmade run with new unique painted artwork by Jasper… The theme of the paintings, and I think to the album as well, is “futuristic farm machinery.” If you’re like me and have ever spent time watching youtube videos about closed aquaponic systems, it all makes perfect sense… “Utopian” is another word Jasper used to describe the music which sounds right.
